Uber’s newly named CEO of its Hollywood studio will be announced Thursday, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the company hadn’t publicly announced the appointment.
The announcement will come after Disney has been in talks with Uber to create a new Disney-owned studio, which is expected to include Disney-branded films, said the person, who wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
The new Uber CEO will replace Andrew Mason, who will remain as CEO of Uber.
Uber was founded in 2014 by a group of engineers and former Disney executives and is the largest driver-partner in the U.S. The company is currently valued at about $70 billion, according at least one analyst.
Disney has said it’s exploring ways to merge Uber and other ride-hailing companies with the goal of opening a nationwide service.
Uber is already operating in the United States, but has not yet expanded internationally.
