Google has a new tool to streamline its content delivery network, which it says has become too complicated.
The company unveiled a new platform for content engines called Google Cloud Platform Engine, which enables developers to build, test, and deploy content services that are hosted on Google’s cloud, Google said.
The service has not been fully rolled out yet.
Google’s Cloud Platform is designed to let content providers create new and unique content on Google and Google Cloud, and then integrate it into other Google services, such as YouTube, to improve the speed and quality of its search results.
The new tool, Google Cloud Engine for Content, is aimed at helping content providers build more complex content delivery networks, Google Chief Operating Officer Patrick Pichette said in a blog post Monday.
“This new service lets developers easily deploy their own content delivery engines that will deliver their own personalized content in the cloud.”
Developers who want to build on the existing Cloud Platform infrastructure will be able to create a new cloud-hosted service, Pichettes said.
“We are excited to make this available to everyone and help you quickly and easily integrate your own content creation service on Cloud Platform.”
To make the new service work, content providers will have to develop their own custom content delivery engine, Piches said.
Google will also provide a number of services that enable developers to leverage Cloud Platform.
Developers can create their own “content engine,” which allows them to use a variety of Cloud Platform APIs to build custom services.
For example, the new Google Cloud Service Engine will enable them to provide services for users to use for content.
Google said the service also will allow users to share content on the Google Cloud platform without any external dependencies, and to create custom content services to help them monetize their content.
“The new service enables developers in multiple content industries to build content delivery and monetization services on the cloud,” Pichetts said.
